Small antique quarter chiming walnut cased bracket clock

English circa 1875
Small, nice quality, carved walnut case of architectural form with a gabled tiled roof, Corinthian columns to the 4 corners, brickwork decoration top and bottom and wooden sound frets to the side panels.
Very small 3 train fusee movement with heavy bob pendulum and screw down holdfast, striking a choice of Westminster chimes on the quarters on 4 gongs or chimes on 8 bells with the hour striking on a larger 5th gong.
Silvered engraved dial with Roman numerals and nice steel hands, having 3 subsidiary dials for chime / silent, fast / slow, and chimes selection.

8-Day timepiece movement with Sir Walter Scott and his dog in the centre. Anchor escapement with original cylander bob & Evans & quot; pendulum. Based on the Scott Memorial in Princess St, Edinburgh, Scotland. Standing on it's original marble base and covered by a re-placement, antique glass dome. In 1850 Evans produced his famous skeleton clock which was based on the Scott Memorial. This was shown at the great exhibition 1851 The clock proved to be extremely popular and he started to produce them in limited numbers.

The 8 day duration double fusee movement with anchor escapement striking and repeating the hours on a bell.
The round white painted dial with Roman numerals and steel hands.

The mahogany case standing on brass bun feet with brass sound frets and carrying handles to the sides with brass bordered blind frets around dial, enclosed under a concave glass in a cast brass bezel, the chamfer top surmounted by a brass pineapple finial.
