Antique miniature mahogany inlaid longcase clock

Only 55 inches / 140cm high Circa 1900 Le Roy & Fils, 57 New Bond St, London. Top quality mahogany case profusely inlaid with boxwood lines, foliage and flowers in urns and fluted vases, dyed green swags, shell patera and grotesques. The hood flanked by Corinthian columns, the waist door by Corinthian fluted quadrants. 7 Inch gilt brass dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary chime / silent ring, engraved centre, scrolling foliage and flower head decorative spandrels and Arabic, Art Noveau numerals, signed Le Roy & Fils, 57 New Bond St., London. Three train quarter striking fusee movement with maintaining power and long pendulum, striking Westminster chimes on a rack of four gongs and the hour on a further large gong. Given that these clocks are normally twice this size this miniature is an unusual and rather rare clock. We have had the full size version of these clocks often in the past but have never seen one this small. Clock case and movement made in London for Le Roy, (the retailer) for their New Bond St, premises. Dimensions taken at their greatest points; 54.75 inches (139cms) high, 13.25" (33.5cm) wide, 10.75" (27.5cm) deep.
